Library Leadership Team

Dr. Désirée Griesemer studied biology in Saarbrücken and gained her doctorate from work carried out at Saarland University Medical Center in Homburg. From 2003 to 2012 she was a research assistant with teaching duties at a variety of institutions working in the bio- and medical sciences. In 2012 she moved to the University Library in Kaiserslautern to take up a post as a specialist librarian for biology and chemistry. While working at the library, Dr. Griesemer also completed a Master’s degree in library and information science at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne (TH Köln). She has been Director and Principal Librarian of the Saarland University and State Library since 1 January 2020.
